You may need to request an MVA hearing if you get a DUI, accumulate too many points on your driving record, receive a ticket while on a provisional license, or for a host of other reasons. If you fail to act, your license will be suspended anywhere from 30 days to two years. In some cases, your license can even be revoked.
There are strict time deadlines to request an MVA hearing. In some cases, the deadline is only 10 days. In other cases, it may be 30 days. Regardless, you should pay strict attention to these deadlines. If you attempt to file for a hearing beyond the time deadline, your request for a hearing will be denied and your license will be suspended.
The MVA sends suspension and revocation notices to the address they have on record. If you have moved, change your address with the MVA. Not only can you receive a ticket for failing to change your address, but you will not receive any suspension notices if they are sent to the wrong address.
Most people cannot afford to lose their licenses. It is important that you read any correspondence from the MVA or you may be in for a rude awakening.
