Mr. Scherr graduated from Towson State University (now known as Towson University) summa cum laude in 1984 and from the University of Maryland School of Law with Honors in 1988. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in December of 1988 and later became a member of the Washington, D.C. bar in 1995. He has been given Mardindale-Hubbell’s highest rating, AV and 5/5, which, according to Mardindale Hubbel’s rating system, shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence, that he has practiced law for many years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity. He also handles criminal, DUI's, driving on a suspended license, and all traffic cases. He represents Complainants and Respondents at Protective Order and Peace Order hearings. He regularly handles Motor Vehicle Administration hearings to prevent the suspension of his clients’ drivers licenses.

Mr. Scherr is an active member of the Baltimore County Bar Association and is the former Chair of the Lawyer Referral Committee and has written articles for The Advocate, the Baltimore County Bar Association newsletter, as well as Trial Reporter, a publication by the Maryland Association for Justice. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Maryland Association for Justice. He has also completed the MICPEL Nine Day Trial Advocacy course. He has written multiple amicus briefs on behalf of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association (now known as the Maryland Association for Justice).


For over 35 years, Mr. Scherr has been a member of the J. Dudley Digges Inn of Court in Baltimore City, an organization where prominent lawyers and judges from all over the State of Maryland meet monthly to discuss issues related to the practice of law. He was honored by that organization as Pupil of the Year in 1992-1993. He has also participated in mock appellate arguments, mock arbitrations, and numerous other presentations at the Inn. Mr. Scherr has also lectured on topics relating to handling personal injury cases at the Nuts and Bolts of Civil Practice in the District Court for Baltimore City seminar sponsored by the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Bar Association of Baltimore City. He has represented numerous attorneys in various legal matters.


Mr. Scherr grew up in Pikesville and still lives there today with his wife, a paraeducator employed by Baltimore County Public Schools, and two daughters who attend the University of Maryland College Park and Washington College. He is active in his community and previously served as President of the Summit Chase Townhouse Association, Inc., his local homeowner’s association and was a member of the Board for 15 years. He also actively offers free legal advice at the Lawyer Referral Service through the Baltimore County Bar Association and actively answers legal questions on AVVO.
