Suzanne K. Farace

Ms. Farace is a 1984 graduate of Oberlin College and a 1987 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, where she received the Hoffberger Clinical Law Prize. After graduating from law school, she clerked for the Honorable David Ross, Circuit Court for Baltimore City. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in December 1987. She is an AV®-rated* lawyer and has received a score of 5/5 according to the Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™ system, which means that she has been ranked at the highest level of professional excellence and adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence in the discharge of her professional responsibilities.  She also has a perfect rating of 10.0 by AVVO.

Ms. Farace concentrates her practice in family law and domestic cases, including those involving issues pertaining to divorce, separation, custody, marital property, alimony and child support, as well as protective order and contempt proceedings.

Ms. Farace has been elected to serve two separate terms as a member of the Maryland State Bar Association Board of Governors. Her first term was in 2000-2002 and 2007-2008. She is a member of the MSBA Professionalism Committee and has served as the Vice Chair of that Committee. She has previously served as a Faculty Member and Facilitator at the Maryland State Bar Association's mandatory Professionalism Course for newly-admitted lawyers in Maryland. She is a long-time member of the Law Links Program and serves on the Executive Committee of the joint MSBA/MSDE Citizenship Law-Related Education Program.

Ms. Farace has for many years been a member of the Baltimore County Bar Association and serves on its Family Law, Professionalism, and Lawyer Referral Service Committees. She was Vice Chair of the Family Law Committee from 2003-2004, and Chair from 2004 -2005. She served as Chair of the Lawyer Referral Service Committee for two years and has previously served on the National Adoption Day Committee. In 2012, Ms. Farace was honored to receive the Judith P. Ritchey Achievement Award from the Baltimore County Bar Association.  Ms. Farace is also a member of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, and for a number of years served on its Executive Council. In 1999, Ms. Farace was elected Chair of the Young Lawyer's Division of that organization. Ms. Farace has participated for many years as a member of the Judicial Selections Committee of the Women's Bar Association of Maryland. She is also a member of the Justinian Society.

Ms. Farace has given lectures on a variety of topics including "Child Custody and Visitation in Maryland" and "Taking and Defending Effective Depositions in Maryland." For the past few years she has served as Facilitator for the Circuit Court for Baltimore County with respect to family law civil contempt matters and as Volunteer Settlement Attorney for the Family Division of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. She has been certified as having received the Child Counsel Training offered by the Administrative Office of the Courts Family Administration.

In 2000, Ms. Farace was elected as a Fellow of the Baltimore Bar Foundation, and served for a number of years on the Board of Directors of that organization. In 2001, she was elected as a Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation. She is one of the five percent of the lawyers in Maryland who were selected for inclusion in the publication Maryland Super Lawyers®.

Ms. Farace grew up in the midwest but has lived in Baltimore for more than 25 years. She enjoys being on the water and participates regularly in the educational and other activities of the Chesapeake Paddlers Association and the Fells Point Yacht Club. She has volunteered for a number of charitable events including the Greater Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race, the Potomac River Swim for the Environment, the Baltimore Parade of Lighted Boats, and the Maryland Swim For Life.

 

Scott R. Scherr 

 

Mr. Scherr graduated from Towson State University (now known as Towson University) summa cum laude in 1984 and from the University of Maryland School of Law with honors in 1988. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in December of 1988 and later became a member of the Washington, D.C. bar in 1995. He has been given Mardindale-Hubbell’s highest rating, AV and 5/5, which, according to Mardindale Hubbel’s rating system, shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence, that he has practiced law for many years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity.  He also has a perfect rating of 10.0 by AVVO.

He handles a variety of cases including automobile accident, personal injury, workers’ compensation, and social security disability matters. He also handles criminal, driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license, and traffic cases. He regularly handles Motor Vehicle Administration hearings to prevent the suspension of his clients’ drivers licenses.

Mr. Scherr is an active member of the Baltimore County Bar Association and is the former Chair of the Lawyer Referral Committee and has written articles for The Advocate, the Baltimore County Bar Association newsletter. He is also a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Maryland Association for Justice.

For more than 20 years, Mr. Scherr has been a member of the J. Dudley Digges Inn of Court in Baltimore City, an organization where prominent lawyers and judges from all over the State of Maryland meet monthly to discuss issues in the practice of law. He was honored by that organization as Pupil of the Year in 1992-1993.  He has also participated in mock appellate arguments, mock arbitrations, and numerous other presentations at the Inn.  Mr. Scherr has also lectured on topics relating to handling personal injury cases at the Nuts and Bolts of Civil Practice in the District Court for Baltimore City seminar sponsored by the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Bar Association of Baltimore City.

Mr. Scherr grew up in Pikesville and still lives there today with his wife and two daughters. He is active in his community and previously served as President of the Summit Chase Townhouse Association, Inc., his local homeowner’s association and was a member of the Board for 15 years.  He also actively offers free legal advice at the Lawyer Referral Service through the Baltimore County Bar Association several times per month.
